Santosh: Please can you provide some insight on IT Networking?
Chandrasekhar: A network consists of multiple computers connected using some type of interface, each having one or more interface devices such as a Network Interface Card (NIC) and/or a serial device for PPP networking. Each computer is supported by network software that provides the server or client functionality. The hardware used to transmit data across the network is called the media. Normally Cat6 is a cable standard for Gigabit Ethernet and other network protocols that is backward compatible with the Category 5/5e and Category 3 cable standards. It may include copper cable, fiber optic, or wireless transmission.
Santosh: What are the technologies do college graduates being familiar to join Networking?
Chandrasekhar: The fundamental requirements for any students who are looking for networking profession requires basic understanding about Computer Hardware and some basic knowledge on electronics.
And they need be familiar with various operating systems and networking concepts like OSI Model layer to know which all the communication protocols like TCP/IP, UDP, etc are operated on which layers and there functionalities.
Santosh: What are the challenges faced in this domain?
Chandrasekhar: In today’s enterprise world are engaged in 10-Gigabit Ethernet upgrades, migrations from Local Area Network to Wide Area Networking, as well as data center consolidations.
Many companies require WAN connectivity to support connect to there offices world wide to run the business with higher speed connectivity to improve the performance of bandwidth-hungry applications.
Investing on high end servers, high speed backupbones networks and virtualized services, redundancy for services, and network security to prevent from hackers, to fulfill these requirement is a big challenge in the networking domain.
Santosh: Where a fresh graduate does stands in a Networking? (Roles, responsibilities expected and need to perform)
Chandrasekhar: The expectation from the fresh graduate is dedication, learning and clear with the concepts, which will help them to build good foundation on subject. And they should ready to accept the challenges under the supervision of superiors, this give them opportunity to perform responsibilities and learn to get hands on experience, gradually fresh graduates can easily get experienced and he can handle the projects individually.
Santosh: What are the up-coming technologies in networking?
Chandrasekhar: There different networking technologies apart from IP Networking. The growing business needs made to develop the high speed connectivity between the computers for high speed servers and hungry applications which need high performance, etc.
